Mental Zoomies

Posted: December 10, 2021 in Exceptional, Excerpts

I have a meteor shower of thoughts inside my head. It’s like me alt-tabbing my browser windows 100x a minute… 😕 At one time I get to think of doing something, and before that thought is done, another thing comes in, then my focus shifts. This is happening while I am in a zoom meeting with officemates, browsing on FB, messaging you, and a friend.. while my mind floats like I am daydreaming of multiple scenarios at a time with a very short attention span. Is it just the coffee?

Case in point, I suddenly had the urge to blog. I miss you, my old friend. I hope you don’t lose interest in me. I have been doing a lot of stuff, vlogging, social media, working from home, dealing with some major financial setback… and just about everything that is far from my old habits of writing my thoughts on a digital diary.

Update – January 29, 2022.

I’ve seen some TikTok videos about this and it made me curious. And it made me ask myself if I am experiencing something similar to it. At times, when I am in a very stressful moment, I thought it’s just my inner thought speaking but from different POVs. The voices aren’t like this. They are not as distracting, but I guess due to the external factors that add to your level of anxiety, they do contribute to your poor target focus.

Now, I am starting to get scared and fascinated at the same time. This is a new realm that I think I’d like to discover. You won’t be afraid of something you already understand, right?

About you, wokes.

Posted: July 21, 2020 in Exceptional, Excerpts

This post went viral a few years back, after the 2019 Senatorial Elections.

Having shared a few hundred times and with the post going viral only means my sentiment reflects to a lot of Filipinos out there. The “wokes” do not have the monopoly of what is right or what is wrong. And the fact that they are most of the time in denial of the facts that are being slapped onto their faces, only shows their lack of maturity to acknowledge that it is what it is.

Now if these wokes won’t be able to accept the reality as it is, it is no longer our problem. What we can do is make them understand things the way that we do. Cognitive dissonance can hit both ways and both parties, Dilawan or DDs. It’s only a matter of aligning your perspective and not be too emotional on just about everything.

Here’s what I wrote:

If you think the standards for choosing a Senator is too low for you, I think it’s now time to amend the Constitution in setting up the standards for electing Senators and Representatives, even for the President… (frankly I call it BS, you just say the “standard is low” because your candidates lost, There. Anyway, moving on… ).

But you must also acknowledge that in a democratic country like ours, when people cast their votes, whoever the winners are should be acknowledged as such, so long as they are qualified. You do know that, right? You know, vox populi, vox dei.. “The voice of the people is the voice of God” ? You guys still don’t have a single clue yet?

And you also know that in every election, when you cast your vote, regardless of your motivation you know that there is a chance that your candidate can go either way — to win or lose, right?

But you guys didn’t like the result, and you WHINE. It’s only the third day after the election and you guys are still too emotional over the fact that your “heroes” lost. and the “villains” won? Tell me, since when did your perspective become every Filipino’s perspective? That regardless of the result of the election, you still voice out your illogical claims that you are right, and the majority are wrong?

You guys claim that you’re the “intelligentsia”, the “woke”. You wanted your own perception of change to happen in our country. But tell me.. did you even do enough?

What if these people who voted for the victors right now tell you the same? That they endured the past three decades of traditional politics and manhandling of the oligarchs, that they took the only chance for equality that they had on May 13th, cast their vote for the people who they think would deliver that CHANGE as they’ve so long perceived? They campaigned for their Senators just as much as you guys did. The only difference is that what while you were condescending, they were hoping and admiring the humility that their candidates have.

Did you guys even think of that? No. You only think about yourselves. Because you are all arrogant, know-it-all, elitists, hypocrites, all rolled into one. Yes, ask everyone who voted against your guys and this is the very same thing that they will tell you. A vote to the administration bets is a NO VOTE to the people who think like you.

What else do you expect from people whom you belittle for having a different political inclination from what you have? Do you expect them to turn the other cheek? Embrace you with their arms wide open and tell you “I love you, my kababayan, kahit masakit ka magsalita?”

You, who always think that your choice is the BEST… actually, the ONLY choice for this country? And when reality hits, you realize that you guys have been living in your safety bubble, having no idea how the elections ended up that way.

Like I said, if you guys only treated the other people just…a … little.. bit… sweeter, then your bets would have had at least a fighting chance. But you didn’t. You chose to be arrogant pricks.

Also, you guys know who was in charge when the 1987 Philippine Constitution was drafted, right? Where these “low standards” were included in the provisions? You know, that housewife, widow of a fallen commie sympathizer? Have you heard of Cory Aquino? No?

So, if you want this thing changed, then you must lobby for the Change of our Constitution, too…. but this Charter Change will depend on the current elected Senators and Representatives in the Lower House. You following me yet?

Oh wait… you guys didn’t like Charter Change, since you believe it would only expand the powers of the politicians, right? So, what now?

Have you ever felt so screwed in your life? Don’t worry, they will make you feel it.

“Article VI, Section 3. No person shall be a Senator unless he is a natural-born citizen of the Philippines and, on the day of the election, is at least thirty-five years of age, able to read and write, a registered voter, and a resident of the Philippines for not less than two years immediately preceding the day of the election.”

“Article VII, Section 2. No person may be elected President unless he is a natural-born citizen of the Philippines, a registered voter, able to read and write, at least forty years of age on the day of the election, and a resident of the Philippines for at least ten years immediately preceding such election.”

I had this written in one of my Facebook posts sometime when the musical was being shown at Resorts World Manila. However, I have forgotten to have this included in by blog. Thanks to the Youtube livestream from last night by the defunct ABS-CBN franchise, I was brought back to memory lane.

Note that the livestream here featured a different set of cast, more specifically the younger Joy, Hector, AJ and Emman.

I never thought I’d cry in a musical paying homage to the best OPM band on the golden age of OPM Music in the 90s.

Not only are the performers superb, the story and the arrangement also went above my expectations.

Having been invited to watch it for a surprise gift from Bae back in 2018 (note the songs mentioned here and try to listen to them, lol), there was really nothing special that I expected about a musical featuring the Eraserheads‘ all time hits. I told myself that it might be just one of the hyped up stage performances “Wala naman dyan yung members ng banda, so, what’s the fuss all about?”. But boy, was I so wrong… Read the rest of this entry »

Plot 2020

Posted: May 4, 2020 in Exceptional, Excerpts

Because I have nothing more to do while stuck in this ECQ, I came across this over-a-year draft from my stock of written thoughts. I had shared this with only one friend I know online. I thought someone ought to write a fictional conspiracy novel about this. Think of it as a screenplay with no dialogues just yet.

I had a few ideas in mind that may be interesting for a fictional story and I had them bulleted just so I could get back to them once I got the vigor to write about it more (or if for some reason, the god of “kasipagan” gets in my body and takes over it. LOL.

Little did I know, 2020 has for everyone huge surprises. Well, we all know what’s been happening during the first quarter of the year 2020. What I find interesting is that, I also got the same chaotic insight of what 2020 would be like in my mind. 🙂

I had this written back in February 2020. The story may run for a few years, but everything began in 2020. I had some comments in some of the bulleted ideas in there that I just added right now. And since this was written in the beginning of 2019, some of the information here from Feb 2019 up to present are no longer accurate, since I was only predicting them, or were just made up in my mind.

The plot goes:

Not that I have contracted the deadly virus or anything. And I know this thought is a little morbid. We all know that it can come when least expected. When you thought you’ve observed all protocols to stay healthy and away from the crowd, there is, still that small chance that Murphy’s Law would prevail.

What if, you had it, and despite all the efforts that you, your family, and the medical frontliners had mustered to try and save you, all of which done to no avail…

What would you have told everybody that matters to you before you go? Read the rest of this entry »

(Note: This is a spoiler-free article. Nothing but me telling my version of the Avengers: End Game experience.)

Damn, I am still euphoric. The scenes from the movie are still running in my head. Not to mention I have only slept for 3 and a half hours and had to go to work on the first day of the End Game showing in the Philippines.

When Pinoys annoy

Posted: March 19, 2019 in Exceptional, Excerpts
I stumbled upon an old article from Filipiknow… on the witching hour at work. It only took me like five minutes to create my own list of fucking bad Pinoy traits on top of what the article already has mentioned. But I decided to expound it anyway and blog it.
And oh, I apologize in advance if you read curses in this entry. It just goes to show that even I – as a heritage conservation advocate, one who is aware of the political climate of the country, and one who adores the History of the Philippines (we have several versions of it, depending on who you’re listening to), both modern and early – sometimes reaches that point that you just get SO frustrated. As how the netizens usually put it, “Pilipinas, bakit ang hirap mong mahalin?”

For the past couple of weeks, online news and social media posts have been making noise about a certain individual that paints artwork by the sidewalk and sells them for a very cheap price. We decided we need to check his artwork sometime. Read the rest of this entry »
